Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Colibrí collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Colibrí is operated by Half Moon Labs LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA. Questions or requests: [email protected].

By using Colibrí you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

What we collect

• Account — you sign in with Apple or Google, so we receive your name, email, and an account ID, plus any learning preferences you set.
• Voice recordings — when you do speaking tasks or live roleplay, we record and process your voice and its transcript so we can grade your speech and give feedback.
• Photos — if you photograph real-world Spanish (signs, menus) for an exercise, we process that image.
• Things you create — journal entries, written answers, and notes.
• Learning data — your progress, results, and data derived from your activity (review schedules, skill estimates, common error types) that we use to personalize practice.
• Subscriptions — if you subscribe, Apple processes the payment and tells us your subscription status. We never receive your card details.
• Device & usage — device type, app version, settings, feature usage, and diagnostics.
• Notifications — if you opt in, a device push token so we can send reminders.

We use your voice, photos, and written content only to provide the features you ask for — we don’t use them to identify you. We use no advertising, no ad identifiers, and no third-party tracking.

How we use it

To run the app and grade your speaking and writing; to maintain your earned progress; to personalize practice and send reminders you opted into; to manage your subscription; to keep the app secure and improve it; to support you; and to meet legal obligations.

Automated grading. We grade your speaking and writing automatically to update your in-app progress and “readiness.” This affects only your experience inside the app and has no legal or similarly significant effect outside it. Automated results can be wrong; email [email protected] for a human to review one.

We process voice and photos to grade your practice, not to identify you, so this is not special-category (biometric) processing.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we don’t disclose it for advertising. We use service providers who process data on our behalf under contracts requiring protection at least as strong as this policy — for authentication and payments (including Apple and Google), AI grading and speech processing, and cloud hosting and storage. We select AI providers and settings so that your content is not used to train their general-purpose models, and grammar checking runs on our own servers. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect people’s rights and safety, and in a business transfer subject to this policy.

Where your data goes

We process data in the United States. For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland we use appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum); email us for a copy.

How long we keep it

• Voice recordings and photos are deleted promptly after they’re graded — we don’t keep the raw audio or images.
• Transcripts, results, and learning data are kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.
• Account data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except records we must keep by law.

Your choices and rights

• Permissions — turn microphone, camera, or notifications on or off anytime in your device settings.
• Delete your account and data — in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing [email protected]; we complete deletion within 30 days.
• Access, correct, or export your data (including a machine-readable copy) — in the app or on request.
• Object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time (this doesn’t affect processing already done).

To exercise a right, use the in-app controls or email [email protected]. EEA/UK users may also complain to their local data-protection authority.

U.S. state privacy

We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is no opt-out to offer. If you’re a California (or other U.S.) resident, you may still ask us to access, correct, or delete your information — contact [email protected] and we won’t discriminate against you for asking.

Children

Colibrí is for users 13 and older (16 in the EEA/UK, or the age of digital consent where you live) and isn’t directed to younger children. If you think a child gave us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security & changes

We protect your information with measures like encryption in transit and access controls, though no system is perfectly secure. If we make material changes to this policy we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
